Mommy comes in to check on us and give us kisses every night before she goes to bed. She said she didn't want to forget how peaceful her sleeping angels were at this age - Carter at three and a half and me at two. So......she snapped a few pictures. She first tried to turn on a really dim light and snap them without the flash but those didn't turn out at all. Finally, she just sucked it up and used the flash. We didn't move! That's what happens when you're having a blast every day of summer!

Summer Days
Here are some pictures from our random summer days. I was really enjoying my left over birthday cake, can you tell?
Carter was helping Daddy hook something up behind the entertainment center. Mommy thought it was a cute picture of both of them laying down, only their legs sticking out.
Our cousin, Reece, has come over to play a few times. He isn't much younger than me, so it's great when his grandma brings him over to play with us. I don't know if his Daddy would approve of these pictures of him though!
Finally, summer days in our backyard pool continue. My favorite part was dumping the water on Carter's head. This particular day ended abruptly after I stepped on a wasp and got stung but Mommy says I was a trooper. It was my first wasp sting and I didn't show any allergic reactions and didn't even cry very long!
(Mommy doesn't know why some of these pictures ended up sideways, she went back and checked, they are turned around in her file on the computer. Hummmm..... Just turn your head to get the full effect, sorry!)

400th POST!!!!!
Here marks our 400th post since becoming a family of four and starting the family blog. Where has the time gone?
I just thought I'd pop on here and document some of our recent activities. Carter is currently enrolled in swimming lessons as well as soccer. He's loving every minute of both. He is well over 3.5 right now and will be turning the big F-O-U-R in just about 4.5 months. He is growing up so quickly. He has started recognizing a few sight words. We practice sight word flash cards (I isolated a set of about 10 or so words) at night before he goes to bed. His first word that he could recognize was "no" (how fitting) but he has since picked up on "three, please, she, you" and a few others as well. My next step will be to try to help him recognize them in the real world, not just when they are on a flash card in front of him. He is doing so well, we're so proud of our little man! He has also started working on writing his name, though I must admit we've slacked on this the last few weeks. Summer in a busy time! He wrote his name for the very first time by himself on June 20th. That, of course, is hanging up on our magnet board! Carter is enjoying our "home days" and gets a little sad when one of us leaves to tutor or go to soccer practice. He's started guilt tripping which I must admit is still pretty cute at this age. I know there will be a time when it certainly is not. He will say something to us like, "But I want the whole family to be together......" Just yesterday when we all went for a bike ride and he and Caidey were riding in the bike trailer behind Daddy's bike we caught them "making fun of us" for what we think is one of the first times. Brandon and I said something and Carter started mimicking it. They thought this was just HILARIOUS which fueled Carter to keep repeating it and they just latched onto each other amidst all their giggles for a wonderful hug that only close siblings can understand.
Caidey. Yes, Caidey. It must be a Swart girl thing. The kids' cousin, Hunter, has always been full of personality. She knows what she wants and she wants it now. Even though about 1,000 miles separate these two Swart girls (something noone in the family thought would even exist), they are so similar!!! Caidey has attitude. Caidey has carisma. Caidey has personality. Whatever way you want to say it, this kid is unique! You have to spend time with her in person to truly appreciate it. She certainly frustrates us at times too, but for the most part, she's just funny. Ms. Caidey-Bug made a few more steps toward becoming a bigger girl this weekend. Brandon and I bought her a big-girl-booster-seat for the table so she can have one just like Carter's AND we went ahead and bought a rail for her bed. I'm currently working on refinishing my old bedroom furniture from my childhood so Caidey can use it as her "big girl" furniture. Two days ago we (Daddy) decided to go ahead and convert her crib to a toddler bed by removing the front of it and using the new bed rail. Caidey is so excited!!!!!! We hoped this could curb her tendency to wake up in the mornings or after a nap and cry for "Mama" but so far the cries continue. I just have to crack her door and remind her that she can climb down out of her bed on her own. We're only two days into it, I'm sure she'll figure it out soon. I just hope she stays in bed when she's supposed to. I think she will, she is a good sleeper. I really am pretty glad Brandon just went ahead and converted her bed to a toddler bed. It will provide her with a transition between her crib and real "big girl" bed and it was best for me too. I didn't have a chance to get all weepy and sappy about putting her down in her crib for the last time because I didn't realize her last time was her last time. She is ready for this toddler bed, she really is such a big girl.
Shool starts four weeks from today. I intend to make the very most of every single one of the twenty eight days remaining of our summer. We're having to much fun as a family. Trips to the water park can be seen here. I didn't want to post a boring post and not at least include some pictures. The close up of Carter with all of the water droplets on his face is one of my favorites. Caidey (surprisingly!) is a little more timid at the splash parks. Carter, on the other hand, basically runs from the parking lot all the way into the water!
Happy summer, kids. Mommy loves you guys so much!!!!

Bar Stool
Mommy and Daddy remember this picture like it was yesterday. One of my favorite things to do once I started cruising around back in August of 2006 (.....back when I was just 9 months old) was to boost myself up and stand under the bar stools. The other day I happened to pose right in front of one again and Mommy quickly snapped a picture of me. Look. How. I've. Grown.
Daddy just gasped when he saw the picture. They think it really puts things in perspective. We're growing up so fast.
Look at how grown up I look in these pictures with my backpack on. We just had it packed full of books and toys to occupy us while Mommy took us to her eye appointment but Mommy says I might as well be off to kindergarten, I look so grown up.

Indiana University
We headed down to IU on June 15th to visit Daddy as he was down there working on his ACP US History certification. Man, that was a tough one to type.....Mommy had to help me.
Anyway, we got to see a very cool college campus. My favorite part was playing with the big foam fingers in the bookstore but Mommy and Daddy enjoyed walking around campus. Mommy went to school down there for one semester before she transferred up to Ball State, so she and my daddy had a few memories there.
They especially liked the picture of Caidey and I taken from the back that shows me looking up at the tall trees in awe. Future IU scholar?
Caidey's favorite part was playing on the luggage cart the next morning in our hotel room. She is easily entertained. (OK, OK..... I enjoyed it too!)

My Birthday Party

I am the luckiest two year old on earth. I had the very best birthday party and had so much fun with my friends!
It was an Elmo birthday party and my friend made the cutest Elmo cake for me and it tasted scrumptious too! I had lots of family and friends over to help me celebrate. Let's see if I can name them all....Mommy, Daddy, Carter, Mamaw, Papaw, Gee, Papaw, Uncle Josh, Uncle Brian, Noah, Ethan, the Barnett Family, the Thurston Family, the Epstein Family, the Daniel family, the Beard Family, and the Waggener family. WHEW!
I was so luckily to have such a great day to play outside. Our backyard got transformed into a kiddie wonderland with the play set, jumpy thing, and other toys. We had the most fun in the jumpy thing, I think.
Mommy and Daddy made me wait until we had play time and ate dinner before they let me open presents but you can see in one picture that I wondered into the living room, brought a present into the kitchen and looked at them as if to say, "Puhlease?!?"
Thank you everyone for helping me bring in my "two's" in style!!!

I'm TWO!!!
Even though we were having a birthday party for me in two days, it wouldn't be a birthday without going to the Children's Museum!!!
We met Daddy down there right after he got done with class so we could hang out in the afternoon and get dinner. This was the first time we had been there since they added the new dinosaurs peeking in the new foyer - pretty exciting!
We rode the carousel first and then played in the mini-houses. After that we headed down to Playscape but found it was closed. We played with a few toys they had set out in the blocked off hallway instead.
On our way out, we hugged Rex! Then Mommy took my picture in front of the big clock. They want to make this a tradition so they can see how big we've gotten over the years.
Finally, we were on our way out to dinner. Carter and I were playing so well together in the car though that Mommy even snapped a picture of us holding hands on the way!
Happy 2nd Birthday to ME!
(It's almost 1 1/2 weeks AFTER my birthday when I'm posting this and I'm STILL walking around the house singing, "Happy Birthday to me!"
